Day 4 of 14 - Laundry Completed.

OK - this thing is Number 1 priority for me at the moment.  Even though I've had a few bumps with my house mate, we've been fortunate enough to be able to talk through them.  I think he understands what is happening now.

I did have a laugh last night, he wants to know who I am what I have I done with Pete?  Well... in 9 Days time, we'll find out.

Today's task was the laundry.  Just for a re-cap, these were the things I had to do in there:

LAUNDRY:
  • Dispose of unservicable buckets, & throw away broken utensils/mops etc.
  • Dispose of empty or near empty containers of cleaning products.
  • Tidy shelves & cupboard
  • Clean exterior of washing machine & dust it
  • Clean exterior of dryer & dust it.
  • Wash floor.
BEFORE:

Can't even get into the room without having to step over something.

The Washing machine was only accessible by steping over things and virtually unusable without having to bend over to load & unload it.

What's useful here? Your guess is as good as mine. I've got no clue!

It's a good thing that I've never wanted anything from under the Laundry tub. I don't even know what's in there.

OK - so now you've got a pretty good idea why I need to get this thing under control. Not just for my sake, but also for the sake of my house mate. I can't believe how inconsiderate it is to have to "share" this mess...

DURING:

Hmmmm - just what is all that stuff? The yellow bag looks lethal!

If you ever want an adventure - clean behind your washing machine, you'll be surprised what's there & how much stuff builds up.

OK - things are looking a bit clearer & the things that go back in this cupboard will have a purpose.

Editing all of this stuff has been really challenging for me. Amongst all the grime & dust, I just found so much stuff that I didn't need to hold on to any more. One of the things that I found was an ING Bank folding chair that belonged to one of my previous share mates. I've contacted him to see if the wants it & it will be back with its original owner this coming week.

Now, as much as I've said stuff about hating cleaning - this process is amazingly rewarding. I'm loving how things look at the end.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT:

Floor cleaning products & gardening stuff is under there.

Shelf dusted & cleaned. All the empty/used containers are gone. Everything there has a purpose.

Tub is clean & polished. All the dust is gone & the unit is completely useful.

No more leaning over things. The floor has been mopped and the clothes hampers are usable. Now just need to do the couple of loads of dirty laundry that is inside them and the whole thing is completely finished.

These things came out of the laundry. The mops & recycle items have already been disposed of.
