Stuck in a bottomless cappuccino

Ya know, being a fat person can sometimes be really stressful. Have you ever noticed how those cafe-chairs with the sides are always made for a certain size and angle that seems to make you just a little bit uncomfortable. To me, they seem to have been designed by someone for whom style and comfort doesn't apply to someone who has a few more X's in their Large.

I've learned to find the chairs that don't have the sides, and if the cafe doesn't have open-sided chairs, then take-away is always a fantastic option!

The most embarrasing thing for me one day was when I had poured myself into one of those cafe chairs, and was perched nervously sipping my Cappuccino. After degaustation, I realised that I needed to get up to pay.

um..

ah...

....ick

I can't move!

I was stuck! The chair was stuck to my butt, and no matter which way I turned, I really couldn't un-jam myself from the position. Not only was I stuck, but my wallet was the culprit! It had jammed in my pants pocket, and was making life very uncomfortable.

It so happened that Jimmy - my favourite barrista - saw my plight. Being of similar girth, Jimmy had a bit of a smile on his face as he came out to help me. It was a bit of a spectical. Can you imagine a 130kg (ish) guy stuck in a chair, while a 120kg (ish) Greek guy was holding the chair down so I could get out of it? Fortunately he gave me a free coffee and picked up the tab for my friend as well. It was very nice of him, but really, honestly, it was entirely my own fault.

What an embarrasment.

Thankfully it happened nearly 3 years ago, but I can still write about it.

What's the point of writing about it? Well - overweight, obesity, fat, whatever-you-want-to-call-it causes more than just health problems. It can create very embarrasing day to day problems in simple things that others take for granted.

See, fat people are human too - we want to go about and enjoy our life, just as much as you want to enjoy yours. But sometimes simple things just make it a little more difficult.

I hope that through sharing little snippets you can understand more about people who carry extra body fat.

I'm not thinking that if I become a leaner person that my life will miraculously change. It might, but I doubt it. What WILL change is my health. A healthier body is certain to lead to over-all happier moments, especially when it comes to those wonderful cafe chairs.
